Sports Cinematographer Healing After Spinal Injury

Sports Cinematographer Healing After Spinal Injury

Here's the story of Riley Poor, a sports cinematographer who
hasn't let anything stop him. Riley got started by spending his
college money on an $8k movie camera, and a tragic accident left
him paralyzed below the waist, but not even his serious spinal
injury has daunted him. Go Riley!

Movie Camera - Cinematography

One of my favorite Oscar jokes was made by Steve Martin,
just before the Cinematography Oscar was handed out.

Steve said,
"Cinematography is the combination of two words:
'Cinema,' meaning movies, and 'Tography,' meaning..."

And he trailed off, with a confused look on his face.
Very funny.

Technical Manual

Movie Camera - Technical Manual

Technical manuals keep those movie cameras and
projectors running, for a century or more.

Try that with a digital camera.

Movie Camera

Movie Camera

A man with a plan, builds a canal.

A man with a movie camera, documents
the canal-builder's efforts for all
time, delighting viewers.

"Camera" means "vault" in Latin.

A camera is a tiny vault of darkness
(camera obscura), or else it's a
big eye (magnus oculus).

A lens in front focuses light rays
on a photosensitive plane in back.

The photosensitive layer is either removed
for development, or else it transmits image
signals, to be recorded or processed.

A "Movie Camera" records a series of still
pictures for sequential review. Because of
a flaw in human vision, these still pictures
are perceived as a single moving image.
